Here are a few Auckland tree removal, tree felling and tree cutting FAQs that may be useful.

Do you provide help with resource consent for tree felling?

Yes. Oakwood Treecare and Consultancy can assist with resource consent. Often tree felling can be approved for safety reasons – or to let light or warmth into your home.

Does the tree species affect the likelihood of obtaining consent?

Yes – the arborists will advise you on the type of tree you need removed.

What does large tree removal require the arborists to do?

Large tree removal is all in a day’s work for the talented arborists at Oakwood Treecare and Consultancy. The arborist team employs sectional dismantling, specialised lowering ropes and tree climbing equipment such as harnesses on a daily basis. For demanding jobs, a hiab, crane or helicopter can be used.

Can I use the mulch on my garden? And what about the stump?

You may want to take advantage of our tree mulching service and put the wood chip on your garden, and we can help with stump grinding if the tree removal leaves unsightly stumps.

What specialist equipment is used?

We employ specialist arborist equipment including a large 15 inch chipper with a built-in winch that makes tree removal jobs efficient. If we are manually lowering large branches or sections of tree – a friction device called a port-a-wrap is used. This enables one arborist to lower very heavy pieces of wood (up to 1 tonne) with complete control.

What happens with large tree felling in residential areas?

Oakwood Treecare and Consultancy will often have to section fell the tree by removing all of the tree limbs systematically. Then the tree’s trunk is dismantled from the top down by cutting the tree into sections and lowering each section down one at a time. Ropes are used to control the branches and the rest of the tree as it is removed.

Regardless of how efficient and experienced your arborists are there is zero room for mistakes with large tree removal, and using a tree company with full insurance like ours is an absolute must.
